Oh Christmas Tree

For Christmas we decided to go cut down our own tree. We have wanted to do it for many years and we finally decided to do it. We went up to Bear River Lodge and made a day of it. We brought sleds for the girls and tied one up to the 4 wheeler and pulled the girls down the road and picked out a big tree for the family and a small one for the girls to put up in their room. We had so much fun, it was the best family outting we have had. I laughed so hard and it was so fun to start a new tradition.

To Be Thankful

I have many things to be thankful for in my life but of all the blessings in my life, my family is the most important and greatest of all. Having Jared gone for 2 months was a huge eye opener for me. We have definately had our ups and downs but we have managed to get through everything together and end up stronger in our relationship. We had a great and memorable Thanksgiving with our families.

Oregon

While Jared was gone to Oregon for his borrow out, I went and visited him for the weekend. I just got a wild idea one Friday afternoon while I was at work and I wanted to see him so I booked a flight to Boise, Idaho and a rental car and Friday afternoon after work, I took off. I was so nervous to fly by myself. The only other time I have flown was back when I was like 8 or 9 and I flew to Seattle with my mom and sisters. I actually did pretty good, I got a little nauseated but the flight was only 45 minutes so it went by very fast.

When I got to Boise it was pretty late and I had to drive for about 2 hours to get to La Grande. I arrived before Jared was even off work and at his hotel room so I got a key from the front desk and ran to Walmart and got some food and some candles and set up a romantic room. Jared was very surprised and happy when he got there and we had a really fun and relaxing weekend. We went to a pretty lake, out to dinner and watched movies. Jared even bought me my first fly rod while I was there. I had to leave Sunday afternoon and I cried the whole drive from La Grande back to Boise but I really enjoyed the short time we had together.

Thankfully about 2 weeks later Jared got to come home. The girls and I actually borrowed my parents car and we drove to La Grande (yes, drove. 8 hours!) Jared and I hit a rough patch in our marriage and I really needed to see him so we took off and went to see him. We got to stay for about 4 days and then Jared got released from the borrow out so we all drove back home just in time for Thanksgiving. While I was away I actually quit my job at the U of U so I could be home more with the kids and work on my marriage. It was a rough decision to make but it was the best decision I have made thus far in my life. I had worked there for 10 years and sacrificed alot so it took a while for me to adjust to not working but it has been a very good decision.

Broken Arm

Emma celebrated her 4th birthday and a week later, broke her right arm playing on the bars at the park we were having Abby's first soccer game at. Jared was in Oregon at the time and needless to say, I was a mess. Emma was a trooper though. She was tough the whole time and i must say she looked adorable in her bright pink cast.
